Homeschooling

I have had so many people (mainly our parents, no offense, but it’s true) question Chris and I and our belief in homeschooling our children, not only question it, but challenge it.  When I try and explain to them the issues we have with public (or even private) education there is always a rebuttal.  The fact that we are choosing to homeschool our daughter, and any other children we have, in order to pour into them real knowledge and opportunity as opposed to to the required for moving on variety, or to teach them in the ways of character and not just the “three Rs” it doesn’t spawn intelligent debate, it spawns resentment and non-understanding.

Chris found a youtube video this morning from the TED talks which addresses education and the way it’s structured.  This talk summarizes so much of why I feel so strongly about homeschooling our kids.
